PROS-Bluetooth: works decently.
-Nightwatch works well. It's a huge relief to be able to read the controls at night. The regular 29LX model does not have night watch.
-10 weather channels, most wx radios only have 7.
-Weather alert: will interrupt CB mode to alert of emergency weather situations.
-External mic: works ok with Bluetooth (need external/remote PTT device to use for CB function).
-Separate digital readouts. A lot easier to see & read compared to the usual small meter Cobra radios have.
-Has channel scan, memory channel scan, & weather channel scan. What a relief to not have to go through channels by hand.
-Has instant ch 9 & 19 button.
-Has clock, alarm clock, count down...So far I've only tried setting up the clock.
CONS
-External PTT jack has issues, even when turning down the dynamic & the talkback, it frequently causes only feedback like tones to be heard by fellow CB operators as well as on the radio's internal speaker or external speaker while transmitting. It often times will not respond to pushing the external PTT button on a brand new Cobra CA MS4 remote PTT device when plugged into the external jack. COBRA DIGITAL CA MS4 Remote Push-to-Talk Microphone System The CA MS4 works great when used via the interface it comes with & with a 4-6pin mic connector adapter Mic ADAPTER Convert a 4 pin Cobra / Uniden microphone to fit a 6 pin Ranger RCI radio Workman C4PRCI6 plugged in via the hand mic connection, but then the use of the BT function is sacrificed.
-External mic could be better at picking up my voice in BT mode; clipping it to shirt works ok, but works best when held directly to lips. It does not work well in CB mode with the external/remote PTT function. In this manner the dynamic needs turned way down to not get feedback, and then the mic must be held to mouth with hand cupped around it to be heard on the talk back.
-Talk back mode is too quiet, even at max setting
-Volume over all is not to my satisfaction, usually needs to be at max setting & is still a bit quiet.
-Volume during BT function often fades out, especially when my phone's voicemail instructions are playing.
-BT to phone connection could be improved. It takes a few minutes to finish connecting due to downloading the address book each and every time the radio is turned on (it dumps the info when you turn the radio off). You can't do anything with the radio during these minutes until it has completed the download. Other Bluetooth devices only take seconds to do this. It also has lost connection to my phone at least once when the phone never left the car. I think it would be great if a Bluetooth headset could connect to the radio and be used in the CB mode.
-Weather station is heard faintly in the background while in CB mode.
-Volume & talkback control knobs are tiny and difficult to grasp.
-Would be nice if modulation was included in the digital read out so one could tell how well the radio is pickup up one's voice during transmit.
-Of the 4 available display colors, only green is satisfyingly bright enough to be visible during day light. Next to that is blue, then perhaps red, but with amber, you can forget about it.
-Doesn't have the soundtracker function.
-A constant buzzing sound often is emitted from the radio, especially when using an external speaker (makes it louder). This also seems to be amplified & possibly induced by the sun when it has been beating down on the radio's casing. I'm not talking about the normal static heard when the squelch is down; this is in any mode regardless of volume knob level. If the ignition key is only turned to the point of allowing battery power to flow, the buzzing is not likely to occur, but if turned to the point of the AC vents beginning to blow air or further, the buzzing is likely to be present.
-Seems to have a weaker receive than my old Cobra 25 WX ST.
-It would be great if SSB was added into this radio & a 6 digit frequency readout.

Love this CB. Got it for my TJ jeep for the Blue tooth law for hands free operations while I drive. Now installed in my Ram and no need to worry about blue tooth. We got it in great condition and faster than they said but it doesn't work. Very disappointed!!! It was for my sons birthday ..... you can imagine how disappointed he was too.
