I won this dock as a door prize from a charity event, so since no money was invested in it, I am probably more forgiving than others who actually paid for it. I have had it for about a year now, and overall, I am satisfied with it.

Obviously the sound quality will not be phenomenal, but I'd say it sounds like an average CD player. The volume output is sufficient, and I have never had to max out the volume.

I had no compatibility issues. Every iPod I've tried has worked fine, as well as some iPhones, even though they were not listed under compatible devices. It gave me a warning message as soon as I plugged it in that it was not compatible but it worked flawlessly anyway.

The controls are terrible, however. Plugging in your iPod and hitting power, play, and pause are intuitive enough, but don't even bother trying to set the clock or navigating your albums. It's faster to just navigate directly from your iPod. The remote is awkward, unreliable, and tries your patience. It felt like a lego piece in my hand and I felt like it would be faster to throw it across the room and hope it hits the right button on the dock. If you're looking for something you can control remotely at a distance, this is not for you.

I like how portable it can be. I usually listen to music at my computer where my audio system is far better, but it's nice to carry the memorex dock around the house when I just want a little background music--say, in my kitchen while I work, or by my piano when I want to hear a song. I used to have an old CD player for this purpose, and it is very nice not to have to burn CDs anymore. It's small enough to fit into a tote bag and I can bring it into my classroom. It's cheap enough that I don't mind letting my middle school students use it freely, but durable enough to withstand whatever they do to it.

Another random plus is it will charge your iPod or iPhone while plugged in. My brother stayed over for a weekend and forgot his iPhone charger. I only have a BlackBerry, so I let him use the memorex dock. It was a little ghetto but it works in a pinch!

I remember seeing this item on sale for $25-30 at electronics stores and I would say that is a reasonable price for what you are getting. Full retail price might be a bit much. If your needs are similar to mine, then I happily recommend it despite the horrible controls. However if you need something with superior sound quality or better remote control, then keep shopping.

Plays ok, sound quality is ok as long as it's cranked up really loud. When volume is lower, every bit of noise that is on your electrical system will be picked up and output in this unit. Don't even try to use with the line in feature. Just frustrating. This runs between the 30-40 dollar range and there are plenty of really good ones for around 50. Spend a little more a get a good unit.

Good for the price. If you're looking for hi-fi quality this is not it. We have several different ipods in our family and this one charges and plays them all. And we really like the remote.

I bought this from a brick and mortar retailer while traveling as I needed inexpensive speakers. That's just what I got. I've been spoiled by the greatly improved quality of small speakers. Unfortunately this unit doesn't benefit from that. Sound quality is about the same as a standard table radio or alarm clock. It also amplifies the transient noises a classic iPod makes that you normally never hear.

This is quite possibly one of the worst electronic devices I have ever purchased. Luckily I did not invest a lot of money into it, but I'm not even sure I got my $30 worth.

I purchased this for my office to be able to listen to my iPod and Pandora at work. Almost from day one I noticed terrible feedback and it almost sounded as though there was some sort of interference with my computer or something like that; (it was kind of like the sound cell phones will make if you set them down too close to a computer). Sometimes it's worse than others, so I just dealt with the feedback. Then within a couple of weeks of having it the faceplate over the clock became unglued. Not a huge deal and I easily could've glued it back on, but just one of those things I didn't expect to have happen that soon. About six months into owning it is when it started to go completely haywire. The clock resets itself all the time, if you pause a song but leave the power on the song will just randomly start playing again even if you don't start it back up....and on the flipside, I'll be in the middle of playing a song and it will just stop for no reason at all, for any random amount of time it determines and then start back up again with no warning or indication of why it stopped in the first place.

I normally don't write reviews because I know different people have different expectations for how they want a product to perform, so who's to say that my issues with a device would necessarily be someone else's issues. But in this case I felt strongly enough that no one would be satisfied with this product if they all perform in a similar fashion.
