I picked this case because a few of my friends had good luck with Speck products on their phones. I also felt like I was taking a little risk since there were not a lot of reviews of the product when I purchased it. Now that I received my own, I can understand why people choose this one!! The case fits the phone so well, and I have yet to run into any problems with it. The camera works perfectly with it, the bottom is cut out in a way that allows me to plug in a basic syncing cable without flipping the bottom off, the mic and speaker are not covered or blocked, the case has buttons that fit perfectly (some cases will just have cut outs to access the buttonsnot here), the pink and white case in particular looks awesome with my white 4s! Besides the color, its been my experience that cases don't always fit the phone as it should (where buttons may not fit right in the case, there are issues with the camera's flash, its not very solid/protective, etc.), but this speck case seemed to be well planned out. I'm glad I made the purchase!When it comes to the other reviewer's comment about dirt collecting on the phone, I think I can understand where they are coming from. In the same way that rubber-ish material for some reason will collect little crumbs or whatever, that is the only thing I see happening with the case so far. Dusting it off wasn't a problem for me, and the phone has limited rubber anyway. In my opinion, its something to expect with rubber-like material in general.
The only recommendation I would make for those looking at this case is to also purchase a screen protector. You can probably get away without one too. But with the combination of the screen protector and this case, I'm no longer worried of my phone being damaged!! Which is peace of mind I think any iphone owner would appreciate :)
Don't get me wrong, the case is not perfect; the rubberized area does pick up color from clothing a little, and that can be annoying. But in comparison to the other cases I have had, it's pretty minimal.
The buttons on the top and sides lined up perfectly, including the open space for the toggle switch. The bottom flips open easily without putting stress on the phone, but when it's closed it feels secure and snug, not like it would ever flip open on it's own. The color is true to the photo, unlike the other "raspberry" candyshell (non-flip) by Speck that I bought (I would definitely avoid that one). The camera opening does not interfere with picture quality, and I have dropped my phone a couple times without the case cracking or the phone being damaged at all. Plus, being able to use a charging dock or a speaker without taking the case off is so convenient!
The only thing I would caution people about is that even with the flip bottom, it might still not work with your charging dock or speaker. The flipped-up area is about 1 1/2 inches long, so if your docking area has a back to it that the phone would lean against that measures higher than that, the flip bottom will still get in the way and the phone probably won't fit. All of my charge docks are open on all sides, so that's not a problem for me, but thought I should mention it. Love Speck CandyShell cases!!! Bought this one because of the flip style. I used a generic charger that happens to be my favorite. The regular Candy Shells dont' have a very large opening for the chargers. So far this seems to hold up to opening and closing the flip part. In response to other comments, the rubber isn't that bad and I can see it scratching easily but it doesn't really bother me. But if that kind of stuff bothers you then yeah I would consider the fact that it does scratch up pretty easily. I am happy with the case though. Very cute!! I really like the SPECK cases...it's a great brand! If I had written this review when I first purchased it 6 months, I would have given it 5 stars. I loved it. It was durable. It was easy to use. It looked sharp. Six months later, I find the rubber peeling away and now the case is loose and I am afraid the phone will become damaged. I am here at Amazon looking around to buy another case before that happens. I will not purchase the same case again. Please know that I am an adult that doesn't put their phone in their pocket or things like that. I use my phone sparingly and it is always found in a pouch inside my purchase. Therefore, this product did not stand up to limited use, I hate to see what it would be for those that really use theirs! 3 stars at best from me.
