I've had Emerson clock radios before. They WORK, they're ACCURATE and RELIABLE, and they're NOT too expensive. In fact, the only reason I replaced the one I bought in 1980 and used for 25 years is that my requirements changed: I wanted to wake up in the morning to a CD. So I bought an RCA/Thompson unit. That was big on looks, not so good on reliability, and gave up the ghost just as so many other reviewers said. I said as much in my review of it.

So I got this. It's a bit plain looking but it's better because it WORKS, and it's not too big. It's functional. It doesn't fail to go off at the time I set it, unlike some. This unit is not a FAIL. The RCA/Thompson is definitely a FAIL. I recycled the RCA/Thompson unit (can't call it a clock) rather than give it away because I didn't want to be the reason some poor person didn't get their wake up call.

After a move, I plugged the Emerson in and it came up with the correct time, due to the battery backup. I had to fix the time anyway, because I'd moved two timezones, but that's not its fault. It has no GPS, after all. If you want GPS time, you'll pay much more.

The only real issue I have with this Emerson is that it can't seem to do random tracks to wake me up. It always uses the first track on the CD. I dinged it one star because of this.

This is just what I hoped it would be, a simple way to wake up or go to sleep to sounds and music from a CD I select. Sound quality is very good for a clock radio. Although I don't use the "beeper", it's also easy on the ears. The display is big and easy to read. I have it on a table quiet close to my head, so I had to get used to the yellow-green brightness of the display -brighter than the smaller red display of my previous clock radio. Programming feature is a nice plus.

Really nice unit. Easy to operate and good compact size. Perfect where real estate is tight like on a night stand. Good value too.

The clock/radio/cd player is an attractive addition to my desk at work. Easy to set time and use CD player. A few issues I don't like: 1) clock numbers are not bright enough, and I can't find a way to adjust them; 2) there is no tuning indicator for the radio, so you can't see where you're at on the AM or FM bands; 3) there is a display function button, but I have no idea what it's for. That being said, the instructions I received with the radio were photocopied and almost required a magnifying glass to read. I thought they looked like they were cut off at the bottom (i.e., incomplete), so I looked it up on Emerson's website. Unfortunately, the same bad instruction sheet was displayed on there as well.

Overall, an average product, and mostly satisfactory for my purposes as an office accessory.

I really like this cd clock radio. I love the dual alarms. These days it is hard to find a CD clock radio instead there is a plug-in for a MP3 player. This radio also has the plug-in! Good price.
