I bought this so I could use the USB slot and it works great. It loads all the songs in about 2 seconds (even with a large thumb drive of 4 GB or more of music) and then there is no wait time when scrolling through tracks. It clearly displays the song title and you can adjust it to display the track by title, album, etc. I'm not a huge stereo person so I don't care about amps and making my car vibrate, but I will say that my music plays clearly and I can turn it up much louder than I need too without my music being distorted in any way. The buttons are a little small, but you get used to them. I did plug my blackberry phone into the AUX port and it did play my songs. However, no information about the song was displayed on the stereo's display and I had to control my music through the Blackberry, which is a pain. Luckily, I plan on using the USB slot, this is just an FYI for those of you who don't have an ipod and wanted to know if other mp3 players could utilize the stereo's controls. All in all this was a great value for the money and it does everything that I need it to do.

I have owned 7 different Pioneer decks over the last 10 years (my car was frequently the victim of theft) and this is by far the best unit I have ever owned. We used this to replace a junky Sony Xplode unit that died after the buttons went crazy. This deck does everything you could want it to and at an amazing price. You can plug in any USB device and it will play the music stored there. I plugged in my Droid phone and it located the music and played it with ease. We used a flash drive and it played all the music. We plugged in our iPod with the normal USB cable and it worked perfectly and it gives you the option to control the music from the deck or from the iPod. We haven't tried CD's in it but I am sure it will function just fine. The color options are a nice addition but what made me happiest is that the display is not too bright. With every unit I have had, the screens are so bright that they cause fatigue on my eyes while driving at night. This does not distract me at all but I can still see it perfectly in all lighting conditions. The controls are easy to navigate and the volume knob is sturdy and easy to grip, unlike the slippery knobs from previous models. Again, this is easily the best unit I have ever owned, especially for the features and price.

It seem like very good product. I bought it and installed it for my little sister so I haven't used it since then, but she's extremely happy with it.

What I like about it is the front USB and it allows you to adjust your bass, tremble AND mids, unlike my cheap radio (someone broke into my car and stole the nice one I use to have). Plus, it also outputs 22 RMS, most receivers seem to only output 18 rms or less.

The sound quality is decent. My sister has stock speakers so I imagine its a lot better than decent since the previous radio she had was a Panasonic which the Pioneer seems to blow away according to her, but again with stock speakers its hard to tell, especially with very old stock speakers.

Note: When your adjusting your receiver use the remote control, I found it to be extremely easy using the remote control, usually I find it easier the other way around.

Great sound, good features, simple install though instructions were skimpy. Be sure you get the wiring harness for your car and a compatible install kit (not included). My biggest gripe is the navigation buttons that are VERY small, hard to read, and overly complicated. The unit comes with a wireless remote that is much better organized and labeled but is very easy to loose or not available when needed.

While it is true that the Nokia 6555 has very short battery life, it is common to all 3G phones. However, there is a way to increase battery life: change connection type from UMTS to GSM from Auto. This will disable 3G and force the phone into GSM mode, which will greatly increase battery life.

I bought this phone last week directly from the AT&T store. I renewed my existing contract with AT&T so I already had their service. I am very impressed with the phone overall. It is sleek and stylish with a lot of features which work well.

I mostly use the phone to talk on and not much else. I need to charge the battery pretty much every night. I can go about a day and a half or 2 days if I stretch it. If you talk a lot or intend to use the other features plan on charging it every night. In their defense the battery life is rated at 3 hours of talk time and that is pretty much it. You won't get more than that and like I said you won't get even that much if you do games or other stuff. The other thing that was kind of disappointing was no ringtones installed except the standard ATT ring. (Correction). There are a couple of ringtones installed I just wasn't looking in the right folder which is the biggest problem I have with it now. The music hides in different menu folders and depending which menu you are in you won't see them which is why I didn't think there were any tones at first. You pretty much have to download anything you want to play.

I really like the phone and if the battery would last longer it would be about perfect. Since all I do is use it for talking and not much else it suits me.

I have had this phone for about 5 months now and still really like it. I am not a tech wiz so I have not even used the music player and other features until recently. I downloaded some ringtones from a 3rd party website and it was easy. They play great. Today I used the bluetooth capability to load pictures from my camera to my MacBook and also loaded a few songs onto my phone. It was easy for a novice like myself. No compatibility issues. Call quality and reception have been above average. I fly all over the east coast and it works pretty much everywhere you would expect.

Just got this phone on Weds, as replacement for my old Nokia I was looking for a phone that is reliable, easy to use, has texting capabilities, sleek, has a streamlined design, a loud alarm (I rely on my phone to wake me up), and takes clear pictures. This phone is compact, and performed well when I saw it at the Cingular store.

BUT today, I experienced the worst battery life that a cell phone could have. After charging this phone to the max, I texted my friends, and talked for about 3 hours when the battery indicator showed that 1/4 of its capacity. Then, my phone died. Usually, I'd have at least 1 hour left to use the phone, with an indication of 1/4 battery. BUT NO! It just died, and luckily, I wasn't in a situation where I needed a phone (I was at home all day today). Everyday since I got this phone, I've had to charge it. Usually every 2 days I'd charge my old Nokia phone.

I will be calling Cingular to ask for a replacement battery.

I replaced my Motorola L6 with this Nokia 6555. I liked the L6 except the keys were very small and close together, so I would sometimes hit the wrong key. Also, I had to lock the keys whenever I carried it so a key would not get pressed accidentally. What I needed was a flip phone with slightly larger keys and this Nokia was just the ticket.

This cell phone has so many features that I will only list a few. First off, my friend just got a Samsung Blackjack II and this Nokia does almost all the same things that his does. They both have MP3, 3G, Bluetooth, internet access, camera, Micro SD memory ready, organizer, and more with services through ATT. As far as we can tell thus far is the only thing the Smartphones have the Nokia 6555 does not have is Microsoft Mobile Suite. The Blackjack keys are so tiny that I do not know how anyone can use them. Plus, the Blackjack cost much more. The better choice is by far the Nokia 6555.

The only problem I am having is navigating the menus to find the settings I am looking for. I have to keep referring to the manual. I suppose after a while I will learn where everything is and memorize most of it.

The battery life seems to be about average for a fully loaded cell phone. Maybe some day they will make batteries that last much longer for those power users that complain about short battery talk time. For now we just have to charge the battery more often. Not a big deal for me. If I plan to use the phone a lot, then I simply charge my phone and headset at night to have a full charge on both and I am ready to go the next day. If I do not use it very much, then I only have to charge them about every 3 or 4 days.

Pros:

Slim and stylish.

Good sound quality.

Many features.

Cons:

Menus difficult to navigate.

UPDATE:

Another con is the backlight only stays on for 10 seconds and there is no way to adjust it to stay on longer.

First, the bad. I purchased the Nokia 6555b from AT&T Jan 8, 2008. Three weeks later the exterior mini-display was cracked and inoperable. I had worn it on my belt while driving and my seat belt buckle put enough pressure on the mini-display to crack it. VERY disappointing. All Nokia had to do was put a thicker, more rigid plastic cover over the display and it would be fine. Instead, I have a busted phone. Except for the broken mini-display and the inability to see the clock or caller ID, the phone still works, but that mini-display is a Bad Design.

A lot of people complain about the battery. At first I experienced very short battery times as well. I even bought a second battery for $15 with some other accessories. I have never needed it. I believe the battery gets better with time. At first it was displaying low battery charge. Now it goes for a couple of days no problem. I charge it each night, though, just to be safe.

I bought the 6555 because it works with the Acura Hands Free Link system via Bluetooth. (Not all Bluetooth phones do.) It also works with the Ford Sync system. Both work very well. It is indeed nice to place or receive calls without having to find the phone. No clumsy earphones. No looking away to dial or press buttons. No wires at all. My wife leaves hers in her purse, I leave my in my pocket (not wearing it on my belt anymore--I might break it again.) With Sync, the Bluetooth even allows the phone to become a media player. Very cool.

Using the free downloadable Nokia software, you can edit the phonebook from your laptop via the special--and hard to find--micro USB cable that costs $15. But if your laptop has Bluetooth like mine--because I bought a Microsoft Bluetooth wireless laser mouse 8000 and its Bluetooth receiver also receives other Bluetooth devices like my phone--you can connect without having to buy the micro USB cable. The cable is handy to carry though, so you can connect the phone to other computers if necessary to download pictures and video if needed. Using this software, you can also make your own ring tones. My custom ringtone is Hillary Clinton cackling/laughing.

The main display has a nice large font that is visible in broad daylight. Color combinations (themes) are adjustable and some are better than others, but it's nice to have options.

The phone has a speaker phone built in if desired.

It's easy to switch from ring to vibrate--just hold the # key for a few seconds.

If you have MS Outlook as your emailer, you can sync your calendar.

The 6555 comes with a host of useful tools including: a Stopwatch with split times; a Countdown Timer to remember to take the roast out on time; a full-function Calculator; an Alarm Clock; Notes; To-Do list; and a Calendar.

It has some dumb games that are mostly demo only.

It has a very mediocre still camera and an even more mediocre video camera.

It can text, but I don't do that.

It can be configured for Push-To-Talk, at extra cost, if you must have walkie talkie capability.

I was worried about the tiny charging plug, but so far it's been durable, even though it did obsolete all my previous Nokia accessories.

It does need a micro-mini plug for the headphones if you want to use it as a personal music player. Mine included a short Micro-to-Standard mini adapter so you can use your regular headphones.

The Settings menu allows you to reconfigure what many of the buttons will do: if you need to get to some buried menu item like the calculator often, make the Right Selector button do it. One touch and you're in business. This is a very handy feature.

Overall, I am quite pleased with the phone. The audio quality is fine, it rarely drops calls and is small, thin and lightweight. The only real problem is how fragile the outer display is. Nokia should have shipped it with a protector or engineered it better from the get-go.

Oregon Scientific RM313PNA Self-Setting Projection Clock

This clock is great! I bought it for my 11 year old son for a Christmas gift. He loves it. It supposedly takes 2 to 10 minutes to automatically set itself. Ours took twelve (our kids were in a small panick) but was worth the extra wait. The time shines in red on your ceiling in nice, large numbers... probably 6 inches by 15 inches and is very clear and easy to see, even when it is not completely dark in the room. I only wish that the blue back-light would stay lit. When you press the the button, it only stays lit for 5 seconds. I have to say that the red numbers on the ceiling scare our 5 year old son, but he doesn't mind it when we position the clock to shine on the wall. All in all, I wish I had thought to buy a second one for my room. It is a real bargain and definitely worth buying.

Besides the projection clock, Atomic setting, it shows the indoor temperature. It also displays the date + weekday (Mon~Sun) with 3 languages settings (English, French and Spanish). Another feature I love, even it includes the 3V adapter, it works fine with only battery operated so that it becomes portable. The alarm has the special beeping which it beeps in the first 20 seconds, then 2 beeps between 20~50seconds,3 beeps between 50~1 minute, then it continues beeps after 1 minute. It's good since simetimes you don't want the clock interrupt your wife's sleep. I think it's a good buy with $19.99 (but I saw somewhere selling it at $18.50 :-

This clock is not the most perfect alarm clock ever made but it fits the bill for what I was looking for. I'm not a morning person and an alarm clock is a serious purchase for me. Twenty two years ago, I bought a tiny battery operated clock in a garage sale for 15 cents. No, I'm not kidding. I loved it the beep was just right, it was small and portable and I only had to change the battery every 5 years or so. It was impossible to read at night, but for 15 cents, it served me well until I dropped it one too many times and made the snooze function unusable.

I'm old and cranky I need a good snooze button! I like to sleep in near complete darkness, so at first, the red glow of the numbers on my ceiling made me aware of an ominous glow above me but just like the moon and stars, you kinda adapt to the subtle ambient lighting. In the dead of night, as I roll over in bed, I can look up at my ceiling to see the time without waking all the way or assaulting my eyes.

When the alarm goes off, it a simple beep not beeps one single beep that is loud enough to wake you, but not so loud it startles you. It will be followed by other single solitary beeps about 3-4 seconds apart. I can always slap the snooze button before the second beep comes along. The snooze is just the right time interval for me 8 minutes. I can actually get another few minutes of true sleep before waking fully.

If the alarm goes off when it is still dark outside and it's dark in your room, the glowing blue of the clock might startle you as it is bright. Plugged in, the red numbers are available at all times. When running solely on the 9v battery, the red light is only available when pressing the snooze bar to illuminate the time on the face. You get both when you hit the snooze you can't have just the red numbers. When set to alarm mode, however, I see the red numbers, but the eye-assaulting blue screen is off.

It is very easy to set the alarm. There are not 50 menus to jump through. A single button press on the center button either enables the alarm or disables it. The atomic clock feature means that I'm always on time when it's time to rise. The rubber coated 'feet' of the clock keeps it from sliding across my night stand as I fumble for it when it goes off.

Less than perfect rating is for a few things:

1.) you can't disable the bright blue backlighting or even dim it if you press the snooze bar for a status in the middle of the night (why isn't this also red?!)

2.) I would have liked to have seen this in a metal case something more hearty and sturdy

3.) I can find no way to turn off the 'confirmation beeps' as I reset the alarm and there is no 'fast forward' so if I wake up at 5:30 and decide I'd rather wake up at 6:45, I'm having to hit the 'up' button 15 times to go from 30 to 45 each time with a corresponding beep which is not soft ... meaning if your husband or wife is trying to sleep good luck in trying to reset the alarm without being sent to divorce court.

Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase and I appreciate the thought that went into its design.

*** When I was looking for an alarm clock, I knew that two features were must-haves on my list:

1. Auto synchronization via the atomic cock signal.

2. Ceiling projection.

---Auto synchronization via the atomic cock signal.

I already have a watch that synchs to the atomic clock, and I love this feature. Eventually all clocks in my house (and on my person) will be auto synch (either via atomic clock or cell phone carrier). In my opinion it is the only way to go if you want to be assured of accurate time keeping.

Note that some alarm clocks are advertised as "Automatic Time Set" (for example Sony ICF-C218 Automatic Time Set Clock Radio (Black)), but these do not automatically synchronize their time setting. They call themselves "Automatic Time Set" but all this means is that they come pre-set from the factory with the correct time and have a daylight saving auto-adjustment.

--Ceiling projection.

I had never had a ceiling projection clock before. I was concerned that the projections would be too bright and would interfere with my sleep. This fear was unfounded. The projection of this clock is easily read in a darkened room, yet does not give off appreciable light itself. The projection is red, and looks much like an LED display.

Unfortunately and predictably, in a fully lit room you will not see the projections.

*** Other features of this clock that I like:

--Progressive Alarm

The alarm starts out as a single beep, and then progresses into multiple and more frequent beeps. The volume also seems to increase (but I am not sure of this). I find that I usually wake up in the early single-beep stages, but I am secure that if I am in an especially heavy sleep that the progression of the alarm will serve its purpose and wake me up.

--Position of the snooze button

It is big and on top of the clock.

--Small form factor

It does not take up too much space.

--Temperature display

A nice bonus.

*** Features of this clock I do not like, or are missing:

--No alarm volume control, and no choice of alarm.

The alarm sound is what it is (see above) and there is no changing it

--Position of the alarm button

The button used to cancel the alarm in the morning is on the front of the unit. The good news is it is raised higher than the other buttons making it easier to find. The bad news is that located on the front of the unit it is awkward to hit (especially in a groggy state). Since the clock itself is so light, you have to grab the clock and hold it in order to hit the cancel-alarm button. This button really belongs somewhere on the top of the unit.

--Clock face display only illuminates on request

You cannot read the clock face in the dark without first hitting the backlight button. Much better would have been an always-on LED display.

--No aiming feature on the projector

The projector is fixed relative to the clock. To move the orientation of the projected time, one must move the clock. Said fixed orientation of the projection relative to the clock seems odd to me: If you have the clock on a nightstand with the display facing you, then the projection on the ceiling will be sideways relative to your point of view. Similarly, if the projection is moved so you can read it, then the clock display is no longer facing you.

2. It's atomic, but you can set everything manually.

3. Battery operated, so it doesn't go off if power goes out, but plugs in so you never have to change the batteries.

4. It's very compact and the housing is very durable.

Less good -

1. Sometimes the radio signal takes a while to catch on, with the blinds shut and everything may just be my area though

2. Last one died (after 3 years use) it would reset it self every time you hit snooze. It had problems after a while.

I really like this product, it does everything I want from it with ease. It looks great, sounds pretty good, charges my iTouch and is fairly simple to set up (instructions always pretty important) and comes with a really nice looking remote too.

The display is clear and easy to understand and I love the fact it is a radio as well as a docking station. The panel that displays the time has a backlight with 3 dimmer settings, dim, low-bright and brightest. So, if you cannot sleep in anything but complete darkness, you will love the dimmer option.

The volume can be as quiet or as loud as you like. I have it quiet and find it a really nice way of waking up. I am using it in my bedroom and my office and sound quality is always good.

It took me about 5 seconds to set the time, and another 5 seconds to set the alarm. That is just awesome! There are also 2 alarm settings, al1 and al2. I can set one alarm to my iPod and the other one to the radio. I haven't bothered to use the snooze yet. There are also annoying nature sounds you can set for the alarm. The one called water makes me pee.

The real surprise for this speaker is that I tried it with my brothers iPhone 3G, and we were able to charge the iPhone and listen to music. The remote is also working. But, there is a quirk. First, iPhone warns you that the accessory is not made to work with iPhone. The thing is it works in the 3G network, however when we switched it to edge network, it made weird noises. So, as long as we kept the iPhone in 3G network, the speakers worked perfectly.

I recommend it to pretty much anyone that wants to be woken up by their own style of music rather than whatever the radio has to offer. I will definitely buy another one for my brother this Christmas.

Looking at the reviews, I called the Satechi customer

service to make sure the speakers would work with iPhone 4. They confirmed that

they upgraded the unit to "works with iPhone". They also told me that

it would work with the bumper, which was a selling point for me, because I

didn't want to take it out all the time. It came with a white clean package

that said "Made for iPod, iPhone". Set up was very easy, basically

plug and play. I could able to plug the iPhone with bumper, no problems there. No confusing controls, I just looked at the manual to setup the

I spent several months searching for a clock/radio compatible with the iPhone 3G that was under $100, and came up with this. I have never heard of Satechi, and don't know anyone that has, so I was a little worried about ordering this.

When it arrived I unpacked it and was quite impressed by the build quality. It is a sturdy box shape with two large dials on top and two rows of buttons in between. It came with several inserts for the different generations of iPods, unfortunately there was no insert for iPhone/iTouch.

Pros:

1. Compatible with iPhone 3G. Charges and plays. No interference has been experienced yet.

Samsung Illusion Prepaid Android Phone (Verizon Wireless)

I bought this phone a few weeks ago for my birthday and I love it. My family say I'm on it so much til I don't really do anything else. I mean this phone has everything that you can think of and it's prepaid. I have absolutely no complaints about it. I think compared to the Iphone, it's the 2nd best thing out right now. And I love how it takes great pictures and it has a camcorder. I don't really even get on the internet anymore because I can do that and more from my phone.

Ive purchased the ILLUSION almost a month ago and its the best phone ive owned. It runs perfect with no complaints. I bought the :pay as you go: phone plan so I wasnt commited to contracts. I got this phone to replace my old phone that I used to have with Cox Communications and T Mobile. This phone is like my G1, but without the QUERTY keyboard. The touch screen is just the right size compared to the Samsung Gem that was smaller than this one. I still have the case for the HTC G1 and the G1 is gone so this phone now fits in the protective case like a glove, so I know this is a great replacement for my G1. I hope my girlfriend gets one of these phones since it will help her with her smart phone needs. This phone has a headphone jack, but does not have a mini HDMI output jack to connect to a TV. It does not have FM radio, but can get internet radio stations and a lot of apps from the google play store. It's like my T510 tablet, but has a earlier version of Google Android, but most apps work on this phone than my Samsung Gem. It does load apps quick and I had fun playing games on it. The reason why I bought this phone is because I used to be a 4 year customer with T-Mobile. T-Mobile was charging me an arm and a leg and keeping me from upgrading to a new 4G phone. So going prepaid will help you save more money than staying with the contract. This is good for people who want to stay out of cell phone debt and have more money in your pocket. It's up to you!

I conducted a fairly extensive and enjoyablesearch for a radio to use at work after on-line music streaming was blocked by my employer. Because the reception in my office is just about 'nil, it was important for me to find a radio with not only good FM reception, but also an input jack for me to connect ipod/phone. I also needed the device to fit into a small nook on my desk. Plus I wanted the unit to look, well, like a piece of e-candy. And, of course, produce a nice sound without too much bass due to the, um, acoustics in my office.

I still can't get much FM reception in my office, even with the Songbook; however, I've come to realize that it's unlikely any radio could bring me much in that environment without actually somehow convincing my employer to hook me up with an outdoor antenna. Right. (I do want readers to know, however, the FM reception at home is super.) And, the sound quality both of the radio (at home), and using this device as a speaker using input jack (both in the office and at home) is absolutely wonderful! I love this unit so much that I bring it back and forth between office and home for use at both places.

I bought the Tivoli Songbook in black some years ago to supplement my aging (but still working) Tivoli PAL. Now, I love the PAL -it's the radio that let me listen to New Orleans radio stations during my Katrina evacuation when my car radio no longer picked up WWL 870 -but I wanted an easier way for me & the kids to hook up their iPods, plus I wanted digital tuning. I got the Songbook in black (to be neutral to decor of a bathroom) and regretted it after about half a year. The rubberized casing was a dust and debris magnet; no way to clean it properly. Plus it all started wearing off in time.

Enter the revised, two-tone Songbook. Happy to report this is a full-plastic case, easy to clean, and it sill looks like new after many months of use. The sound is great for a single-speaker radio; in fact, got one for my Dad for Christmas (he was still using one of those shower-hanger radios; geez) -he was quite impressed when we first fired it up. My step-mom now steals it to use around the house during the day.

I far prefer the plastic to the rubberized coating. As mentioned, the rubberized Songbook looks like hell now; so does the PAL. All the rubberized junk has rubbed off after years of use and moving -I imagine if you never move it and use it in a lint& dust-free environment it might still look good, but these radios get used and shared in my family. The only problem with grip is that I am always hitting the "set alarm" button because of placement (the light button should be where the alarm button is).

I've had no problems with reception (Central Arkansas) nor has my Dad (suburban New Orleans). YMMV, of course.

One caveat I've seen in another review; when plugged in, the backlight stays on. When unplugged, the backlight only comes on when you tap the backlight button, and then only for about 5 seconds. But plugged in, it's always on -so it's not much use for a bedside radio (that light is bright).

Love the fact you can use rechargeable batteries (I use Eneloops; it takes six AA) and keep them charged thanks to the radio's ability to charge rechargeables.

Several very happy purchases. My only complaint is the overall cost, which seems to be more of an attempt to garner a Bose-like sense of boutique-ness. It's worth it for the sound alone, but I keep thinking it should be about $50 or so cheaper.

The Songbook is an excellent radio: high quality audio, intuitive and well laid out controls, beautiful design, and tough. I use it as an FM radio, as an alarm clock, and, when I travel, as an external speaker for my laptop (the radio is about the size of a book, so it fits easily in my briefcase).

The SongBook is my favorite alarm clock, at home and when traveling. It can wake you by playing the radio, but I prefer its alarm, which starts softly and gently, so as not to jar you, and slowly increases in intensity and frequency. It's very effective, without pumping adrenalin into your system. If you don't shut the alarm off, it goes silent for about a minute and then repeats its routine.

After owning my SongBook for a year and a half, I dropped it, twice, by accidentally knocking it off a table. It survived the first fall with no damage and continued to work perfectly. The second fall damaged the volume control, though the damage wasn't visible. I went online to Amazon to order a new SongBook, and, in the process, read a review that said Tivoli repairs or replaces these radios if they malfunction. I called Tivoli and received superb customer service. For a $50 charge, they said they would repair or replace the radio. I shipped it and a few weeks later received a brand new radio, which sits on my desk as I write this.

Highly recommended; buy one.

I have owned a Tivoli Pal for many years and thought a traveling Tivoli would be great. My wife needed a last minute rush Xmas gift for me and I suggested this without having seen one or doing research, instead relying on Tivolio brand expectations. Expected the radio to be rubberclad like the Pal, the one we got is slick hard to hold onto plastic, looks and feels like the "tansistor radio" I owned 40 years ago. Radio reception is fair, a $75 Audiovox I have in the same room locks onto a distant radio station I constantly listen too. Pluging the A/C adaper in causes static. Sound quality is equal to the Pal which would warrant 2 stars if not for the weak radio tuner.

11/04 Review Update. I have been having a lot of problems with the Dock for this product, which is really a shame. Its great in all other ways but I keep it at my desk at work and so I am always taking my iPhone on and off the dock. The dock is sort of flimsy plastic and it slides around very freely when extended. So when you are trying to put your iphone on the dock, the dock is sliding back & forth and so I have to hold the dock with one hand to keep it still while I try to dock the iphone. If you don't get it docked just right, the iphone complains this unit is not compatible with the iphone, etc.. I think this is due to the pins not lining up right. Its really annoying. I dropped a star off my review.

Also, forget trying to keep your iphone in its case, the dock unit is not adjustable (online other sony clock radios that offer iphone docking). As the main thrust of this unit is to be a dock for your iphone or ipod, its a shame Sony didn't spend a little more time on making the dock more sturdy and capable of keeping your case on.

Just got this in some initial comments that I will update later. So far I am really blown away by what Sony has crammed into this thing. It is by far the ultimate ipod desk or bedside accessory. Sony is really pushing the limits of an ipod/iphone accessory here. Looking at my review, you see a lot of cons I think its because this unit pushes the limits so far that people will have thoughts on how it could be improved. Nothing is 'wrong' with this unit really, its just some of my personal preferences I think.

Despite some of the design flaws, overall its a fantastic unit. However, it might get promoted to my desk as opposed to bedside. I don't know that i really need a video screen bedside & a digital picture frame. At my desk tho, that would be much handier.

Pro's:

LCD Screen is extremely bright & crisp you can play video from the ipod or iphone or from internal memory or a memory card or USB stick! I would have no probs watching tv episodes or even a movie off this screen. You can even watch youtube videos on the LCD playing from the iphone. You can choose full screen or fit to screen for video and stills. Video screen integration with the iphone is simply put, exceptional.

The unit has a memory card slot and a usb slot plus 1gb of internal storage. You can play stills, music & video from the internal storage or the memory card or the iphone. Extreme flexibility.

You have decent playback controls on the unit to control playback from the iPhone. Buttons are hard to see when "in bed" as they are flush on the unit's base, you'll have to just learn where they are I guess.

4 brightness settings for the LCD screen including "nightmode". My wife would kill me if this thing lit up the bedroom. Nightmode essentially just puts the time on the screen very very faintly, so faint even in total darkness its faint I like it!

Built in battery for when you lose power nice touch. Supposed to have auto time set but it didn't work for me. I had to set the clock manually.

Slide out tray for your iphone, etc. seems to be able to hold my iphone in its case great news. Tray is not the best design tho.

Track & playback information displays on the display when you play music from the ipod very cool. No album artwork on the unit however.

In settings you can see the "software" version which says 1.0. Maybe this implies we'll get updates for it that you can load via memory card? That would be nice. There are a few features that could act differently. Fixing nightmode and adding album artwork would be great.

Cons:

No remote. Seriously Sony? Not even for basic functions like volume and play / pause? Serious lack of thought for a pricey item. My last Sony ipod clock radio had a great remote & was almost half this price. Sad face. This is a really glaring omission.

Speaker quality is pretty "tinny" I was under impressed with the sound coming from this unit. My last Sony iphone clock radio had great speakers and cost less than $100. So the trade off is I get a video player but my music quality drops a lot. Again, tho, clock radio not meant to be a full sound system.

The iPhone / iPod dock could have been better made. It feels flimsy and I have to use both hands to dock the iphone. One to hold the entire unit steady and one to place the iphone in the cradle. The dock locks when you push it into the body of the unit but when you extend it, it does not lock into place and slides back & forth. I sense a potential point of failure here.

It seems you can't delete the internal "demo" photos or video. Sounds silly but I don't want to see "demo" pics on my slide show. I figured out that if you play the slideshow from a memory card it skips the internal pics. There are about 6 pics of "kids" and landscape that always repeat if you play the slideshow from the internal memory. Very annoying that if you play the slideshow from the internal memory you are stuck with "demo kid" and stock photo shots in your mix.

You have to go into the settings to switch to video playback for the iPhone, it would be nice if you could switch to video easier than that. Also, if you stop playing video or use another function on the clock, you have to go back to video settings and switch to ipod video again. I'd like a button on the unit to do that.

I can't figure out how to turn the clock off when watching a video from the ipod, it displays the time in the lower right corner. Would be nice to be able to clear the screen while watching a video.

It seems you can't enter 'nightmode" when listening to music or using the "sleep timer" function. The screen stays on the lowest regular setting which is quite bright in total darkness. I'll have to play with it more maybe they can patch it. This is a pretty big issue, what's the point of a sleep timer if the thing is lighting up the entire room.

The unit has no audio in (fail) and no headphone jack. It could really use both of these but you can plug in your iphone headphone while watching video on the screen.

I really was pleasantly surprised by everything this small unit can do. My only complaint so far, is that the buttons are a bit complicated when you first see and use them, but it all makes since once you get the hang of it and realize what it can do.

I have tested playing both an Ipod classic and an Ipod Touch and the dock works fine with both. I have also tested playing back the IPod for both music and movies. It works great.

I haven't tested loading any images, movies, or MP3's to the on board memory (1GB) but I was able to plug in an 8GB SD card. It played the MP3's on it with no problems. I have not tested the USB port yet.

Some other things I like about this unit:

The screen can be dimmed or turned off almost entirely for sleep.

It has two alarms that are easily adjusted, turned on/off when needed.

You can set your own background wallpaper.

The sound quality isn't too bad considering the size of this unit.

The time readout is easy to see and it is easy to see if the alarms are set as well.

Overall, this is a smart looking and a versatile addition to my night stand.

Like most users here, I was really disappointed when I first started using this device. The fact that you could not omit or delete the sample pictures from scrolling was unbelievable. Then, the unit would freeze up every few weeks so I was never too confident in it as an alarm clock. To top it off, I could change the display mode, but it would change back to the default mode whenever the alarm went off. It seems like Sony simply did not spend any time testing this unit and just rushed it out with the understanding that a firmware update would resolve the issues.

Well, actually, that is what happened. I was ready to throw this thing out the window (I already threw the box out or I would have returned it). But then I downloaded firmware 1.05 from the sonystyle support site. Now it seems all the issues have been addressed. You still can't delete the sample pictures but there is an option to omit them from the cue. It remembers your display mode, and it hasn't frozen up yet....

Thank goodness, this was how it should have been when it was first launched. For everyone who regrets buying this clock radio because of these bugs, but would love it if they were addressed, download the latest firmware update and you will finally have what you want!

Remarks:

A unique product that hopefully will get better in its 2nd iteration. One of the few portables that can play iPod videos. Philips has portable dvd players in its range that accept iPod but they are all low resolution screens. iLuv has another portable dvd player coming out but requires awkward placement of iPod inside the case. This Sony is the only model that is iPhone compatible.

First, I don't know why a previous reviewer gave it one star without even having one to review. If you have a problem with a seller, give the seller one star, not the product.

I'd been waiting for this little clock-radio to finally hit the market. Ordered it on Sony's website (Amazon didn't have it till just now), then ended up buying at another retailer because Sony was backordered. Sony's list is $149.95, so anyone selling for more than that is trying to make a buck on the popularity and scarcity.

I've only had it two days, but here's what I know so far.

Pros:

* it DOES get dim enough to sleep I was worried as other preview reviewers commented on the brightness

* it has nature sounds (which was a criteria for me)

* it is a photo frame viewer, which shows slide shows of your photos

* it wakes you to radio, ipod/iphone, nature sounds, a 10-second recording (funWakeup), music stored on it, or buzzer

* sound is much better than other clock radios I've used

* button interface is good, unlike other clock/radios I've used

* connects easily with my iphone

* has atomic time, so don't have to set the time

* has digital radio stores preset stations

Cons:

* it's a little hard to get a bunch of photos off a USB stick to internal storage you have to select each photo individually

* it's a little hard to make all those photos I just copied display as the wallpaper/slide show you have to select each photo individually

* hitting the snooze button in the morning brings the brightness back to full brightness I want to sleep more! (I'll have to get used to this)

I'm still learning how to use it, not that it's hard, I just haven't had much time to mess around with it yet. But so far it's been everything I was expecting. Great little photo frame/clock/radio.

What can I say? Read the online reviews and you will find that this is one GREAT phone. The screen is gorgeous. Reception is WAY better than T610 on exact same network. A lot of people complain about battery life. With the newest firmware (R2L0001) this is not an issue. Bluetooth is fast and reliable. Syncs out of the box using iSync on the Mac. Menu navigation is fast and responsive. Get this phone, you will NOT be disappointed.

P.S. I use it with T-Mobile in the US

This phone will work with both T-Mobile and Cingular in the U.S. (all you need to do is take the sim card out of your current phone and transfer it into your new phone)

I have owned this phone over a year now and I still love it. I had a steep requirements list that is still not met by many other models. I paid over $300 to buy it slightly used from europe, now it can be had much easier and cheaper.

It replaces my previous Handspring/Palm Treo. Via Bluetooth, it easily syncs all my contacts and calendars with my computer. I never needed to enter a single phone number.

I made custom ringtones simply out of mp3s and assigned them to different people who are calling. No need to have an annoying phone that plays a computerized version of a song, this one plays the real thing. You may wish the convert the mp3 to mono and 56bps to conserve space.

The phone comes with 36MB of space which is still much more than almost every other phone on the market, more than enough for the average user. Once you take photos and videos, you can easily transfer them to your computer via bluetooth.

Another big plus is the thousands of free java games that you can download and place on the phone from the internet. Get away from the horrible selection and charges that your phone service makes you deal with.

This phone is small, durable, has a beautiful screen, more features than you need. The camera and video quality is much better than other phones of the same resolution.

Th FM radio pulls in more stations than I think any other radio I've used. That said, I never use it, because you are required to use the included headphones which I never bother with.

Someone mentioned this does not have a speakerphone. It absolutely does have a speakerphone and it is loud and good quality. It uses the same rear speaker for listening to music and its excellent mp3 ringers.

Mac users can use its bluetooth out-of-the-box for syncing and transferring files.

PC users can download free software off of sony's website to do the same. With the additional USB charging cradle, you can also update the phone's firmware to keep it up-to-date. (Ignore earlier reviews of a slow interface and short battery life, these have all been fixed with free firmware updates)

i bought this phone on 6/11/2004 and works perfect! this is the best phone i ever had, because it got all the things that you need just name it, the only thing that not have is memory slot, but for me is not a problem.

PROS:

1-features like radio, camera, ui icons, screen resolution, infrared, bluetooth, connectivity, video camera, media player, reception, keypad works great!, pc sync, sounds, call quality, mp3, memory of 41mb, design, the quickly response of the keypad and the user interface with 3d icons, the calendar rocks, small size and the phone games.

CONS:

2no memory slot, and the batery life is not as they say. the phone with bluetooth discharge in about 2 days, but without it the charge is 5 and a half days.

i had a motorola v600 and the phone freeze and have alot of bad things, then a E398 is a v600 but is not a clam shell design and have memory slot of 64mb but freeze too, then samsung E715, then a nokia 7610 and i have to say that nokia hit a homerun with this phone is great but not as the k700i, and now i got the sony ericsson k700i and i have to say that the SE k700i is the best of all.

I've had this phone nearly a year and have, up to this point, been very pleased with it. As all the reviews before me have said, this phone has many great features, looks good, and is a great buy.

I am disappointed though that my center joystick button has been getting progressively less functional over the last 2 months, and has finally stopped working entirely. With that button out of commission, I can't access any of the features of the phone (except the camera), including my phone book, messaging, calendars, etc. The phone is thus useless.

That said, I am looking for another of the same model to replace it and praying for better durability this time around.

But make sure you get the latest firmware (R2AY004). The unlocked K700i I bought online had 13 month old firmware (R2AE033) which was never updated. This caused a hissing sound on voice calls and made the phone lock up every time I disconnected the bluetooth on my Palm T5 and Zire 72 after surfing the web on these PDAs. Rather than returning the unit to the online retailer, I sent my K700i to the Sony Ericsson repair center in North Carolina. SE updated the firmware (for free)on my K700i and I got the phone back a week later. I no longer have any issues and the phone works great.

What a phone! This phone has lots of features. The screen is absolutely gorgeous. Reception is great on the T-Mobile network here in NYC and suburbs. On my T610, I was only getting 1-3 bars in my house and sometimes I would get dropped calls. Now I get 4-5 bars at all times and reception is great. Moreover, with the updated firmware, Bluetooth works great on my PDAs and bluetooth headset.

Some people complain that there is only 41MB of memory on this phone. This is more than enough memory for me since I'm not using this phone as a PDA. I have transferred via Bluetooth a few of my MP3s from my PC to the K700i and use them as ringtones. The K700i is a great MP3 (or MP4 and other formats) stereo player. This is why people would love to have an expansion slot on this unit: they want to turn this phone into their MP3 player. Furthermore, the FM radio works pretty well too. But you need to use SE's wired headset (which is included) to get stereo sound from them. As a bluetooth geek, I don't like wires. But you may not mind. The camera is a big improvement from the T610 and actually takes decent pictures. Setting up wap and MMS on the phone was simple. Just go to Sony Ericsson's website and answer a few questions and you'll get all the settings for Wap, MMS and Email. SE sends a text message within a minute straight to your phone. I set up my Email manually as I didn't want another Email address. IMAP4 and SMTP works fine, as well as the Wap browser. I'm shocked by how well it works. Battery life is not that great. I have to charge it every day for 90 minutes. But then again I keep the bluetooth on at all times. Fortunately, all my accessories from my T610 work on my K700i, including my car charger.

Again, just make sure you get the firmware updated to the most recent version. At the moment, that is R2AY004. If you do that, you'll discover that this is one magnificent phone. I'll never buy a locked phone again.

I'm impressed by the quality of this speaker system. I wouldn't pay retail for it but at $30 it's probably the best thing available. BTW, it isn't iPhone compatible. Thankfully I got this as a Gold Box deal for about one-third the list price. If I had paid more, I would have returned it. It is a challenge to set up. The printed directions are very hard to follow. They also listed the wrong adapter type for my iPod type, or the adapters were mislabeled. The time can only be set in ten-minute increments (really!) so you have to wait until the time is right to set the time! You can't scroll thru your pre-set stations on the device itself; you have to use the remote. Lots of other similar quirks. The sound is just okay, after connecting the included FM antenna. Bottom line: DO NOT pay anything near the list price for this item, have PATIENCE setting it up, and don't expect to be impressed by the sound.

I purchased this as a gold box purchase for my 10 year old son for Christmas. After I received it I wanted to check out the quality before I wrapped it up. Update: the phone is broken. See comment to this review. I did get bluetooth to work well with two headsets, but it is useless now.

I was looking for a very small mobile phone when I happened on this baby and was hooked. Unfortunately, I got it in pink, not really my macho thing, but I am reconciled.

It works very well with a Tmobile SIM and there was no setup involved. I have a $15 a month plan and WAP is agonizingly slow, and I haven't figured out how to use it correctly yet. But that isn't a big concern.

The specs say it will work with a 4GB micro media card, but it seems to be working great with my 32GB card.

I primarily got this for jogging, just as a way to be able to make calls or send text messages. It does both well. The camera seems very primitive to me, but I don't care. I had to watch a video to find the stylus -my fingernail worked ok without it.

It works with a bluetooth headset but I found setup confusing. I have a Jabra BT3030. Pairing worked. I got a voice recording I made to play on my new Lenovo laptop using bluetooth -accidentally! I have not yet managed to hear music on the watch from the bt buds.

Non-bt buds came with the watch phone and work fine. But you have to plug them into the usb port which is awkward and risky if you are moving -that's why buying a bt headset is recommended.

Unfortunately, the built in FM radio requires the buds to be plugged in to the usb port to work, since it uses them as an antenna. Upshot: you probably won't use the FM radio much when on the move.

I found the sound recorder recording level very faint. I thought at first that sound playback was faint in general, but later I listened to Economist news stories and sound level was fine. The speaker of the watch is loud enough that you could call without using headphones of any sort in a pinch -you could hear the caller and the caller could hear you.

Text messages have a cute graphic when they arrive and a distinctive sound, as do phone calls.

The manual is written in that sometimes delightful fake English that is always awkward and often unclear.

The screen size is so small that reading ebooks seems an unlikely pastime, though an ebook reader is part of the software.

All in all, if you mainly want to call and text, this watch could be a blast, especially if you don't mind an occasional puzzle thrown in for free.

Apparently you can get this for less from non-Amazon sources. I think anything under $100 is a decent price.

Although I do not have the cell phone feature working, yet, the watch does all that it promises after you buy the micro SD and the SIM card. Takes video, records sound, takes pictures, tells time. The screens are user friendly and make sense once you get the hang of it. The watch includes a stylus right in the wristband. The watch was set to English, instead of Chinese, which was helpful. The greatest negative was the lack of tech support. I learned by typing MQ998 on You tube.

item was received within timeframe; however , it doesn't charge neither of the batteries work in the watch. So I'm not sure if the thing even works. Seller said they were going to send new batteries but I have never received them as of yet. Im over this thing I just want to send it all back and get my money refunded. Never had a bad experience from Amazon until this.
